Most girls actually want a very masculine and protective guy they can talk to.
Well, you can always improve your strength and protect them from "whatever" (mosquitoes, drunks, loud noises, falling objects). Be creative! It don't even have to be real danger. :)
But the main thing is to LISTEN. Show interest about her and her topics.
So your girl can feel that she is important to you.
She will let you hug her a lot sooner. ;)
